While her career began creating internal artwork for roleplaying games books, Echo Chernik’s mainstay became advertising after an important poster featuring Lance Armstrong on a Trek Bicycle. The Seattle-based artist now loves working in advertising, collaborating with art directors and meeting the challenges each project brings. She also likes travelling to exotic places, baking and kickboxing.
Echo has a BFA in Communication Design, Illustration from the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York.
Because Echo is a traditionally trained oil painter, it can be hard to tell that all her work is now created digitally. She sees her computer as a medium for painting.
Echo’s work is diverse, but is mainly influenced by Art Nouveau posters. She includes lots of detail and symbolism in many of her pieces and is know for creating strong, sexy and powerful female characters.
She has also developed a stained-glass style, a tattoo art style, Chinese Cloisonne and Fileteado. She creates illustrated type and logos, and designs packaging, and also has a portfolio of dark, gritty fantasy work.
