Water Origami

Brand Agency in Australia commission Gail Armstrong to make paper sculptures for the Water Corporation of WA.

The client wanted their customers to be aware that their new billing process was more user friendly and less intimidating, so in each image the water bill is sculpted using origami into a form that reflects the headline. Gail says "One of the things I wanted to achieve in doing this, was to use the marks and type on the bills to enhance the forms. For example the water droplet logo becomes the eye of the fish. And probably no-one else would ever notice this, but the mother swan is made from the first page of the bill and her cygnets are made from the pages that follow. In creating the water and waves I wanted to give them fluidity and form without appearing too stormy - definitely not the right message! The papers I chose are all in keeping with the Water Corporations own branding palette and are in a variety of textures to add further character." Gail's creations also had to work in a variety of crops, both portrait and landscape for usage in the campaign, the Water Corporation have also been running origami events throughout Australia.
