The Easter Egg Roll

Martha Napier is commissioned by the office of the First Lady to create the artwork for the 2017 official White House poster for the Easter Egg Roll.

The Easter Egg Roll is the largest annual White House event and has taken place every year since the 1870s.  Each year, a commemorative poster is produced, and given to the 20,000+ kids in attendance.  Martha worked directly with the First Lady via her team and Chief of Staff on a poster theme of pastel colours, traditional Easter influences, flowers and topiaries.  The art was printed on a 16x20" keepsake poster as a gift for the children in attendance, as well as used as the art for the official White House Easter program, and ticket. Martha explains the experience, "On a personal note, my family and I were invited to the White House for the event.  We attended a private breakfast prior to the event in the White House with the First Lady and President, where I was thanked for creating the poster.  My daughter spent her first Easter in the White House, having breakfast."
