Air Jordan Anniversary

Butcher Billy illustrates the story of Michael Jordan’s life and time.

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Air Jordan, "An Illustrated Tribute to Michael Jordan's 'The Shot'" sees a series of illustrators recreate one of the most iconic moments of Michael Jordan's on-court career in their own unique style. Commissioned by Complex UK and working with Foot Locker and Jordan Brand, five artists were asked to interpret 'The Shot' - "The Shot is the name of the series-winning basket hit by Michael Jordan in Game 5 of the 1989 Eastern Conference First Round on May 7 against the Cleveland Cavaliers. It is considered to be one of Jordan’s greatest moments and gave birth to this memorable image." Butcher Billy says of his final piece "Jordan is a hero to millions of people around the world - also The Shot was the equivalent of saving the plane from crashing at the last second. So naturally in my line of work I really wanted to bring the superhero element to the piece.  He's the Jumpman after all." Read more...
